Shameless Self Promotion
Emerging artists are given conflicting counsel about revealing our offerings to the world. We are taught how to make proposals, but never to send them without being invited. We need to court gallerists, to be found. Simultaneously we are warned that if we are not discovered by our early thirties our generous offerings are doomed to sit on our own shelves, unchosen forever. Artists are not afraid to have our work rejected, we are afraid to find that it has gone unconsidered. Can dirty self promotion thrust our efforts into sight or will it leave us hollow and vulnerable to the elements?
